Message from the President

Greetings and welcome to the new website for St. George Place, a unique community with the feel of a small town in a very big city.
We’ve recently redesigned our site to make it easier for both current and prospective residents to find information about this amazing neighborhood, and we hope you like the changes that you see.

My wife, Sandy, and I have been residents of this community for nearly three years, and I’m proud to serve you as the president of the St. George Place Civic Association (SGPCA). We came here because we had friends who were already enjoying the St. George Place lifestyle, with so many amenities close at hand. We liked it so much that we, too, decided to put down roots here.

There’s not another neighborhood in Houston that can offer what St. George Place has. One of only two areas of the city protected by zoning ordinances, this small pocket of about 600 homes is ideally located between Westheimer and Richmond––two main thoroughfares that lead straight to the heart of the city. The Southwest Freeway and Loop 610 are just blocks away, giving those who live here an easy path to any part of Houston’s economic engine––the Texas Medical Center, the Energy Corridor, or downtown.

In addition to convenient commuting, St. George Place residents enjoy life in the shade of the world-famous Galleria shopping center, soon to complete a major expansion. Nearby, there is an array of dining, entertainment, and shopping options, with the anticipation of more upscale choices coming very soon. Additionally, HISD is building its new $32 million Mandarin Chinese Language Immersion Magnet School next to the existing School at St. George Place. This outstanding school serves grades K-8 and is one of only 15 International Baccalaureate World elementary schools in HISD.

Everything you need is close at hand.

To enable our residents to get to know each other and really feel connected, the SGPCA offers several social activities throughout the year, including monthly happy hours, a crawfish boil, a holiday home tour, and an Easter egg hunt for the youngsters. We want everyone to feel St. George Place is a haven for leisurely and elegant living, while also being family-friendly and fun.

Our beautification committee ensures that the main entrances to this neighborhood are attractive and welcoming with engraved granite monuments and LED lighting. And, in addition to having the protection of the Houston Police Department Midwest Patrol, those who live here feel even safer; thanks to a private security team that patrols the neighborhood.

The most important thing to us is finding residents who bring the right kind of energy to the table. We welcome all who have a volunteer spirit and a strong commitment to the community to join us at our meetings to share your ideas. Working together, we can make great things happen in St. George Place.

Sincerely,
Mike Reckles
SGPCA President
